Pop Culture Influence: Monroe Played a Major Role
How was Marilyn Monroe so famous? It all started in 1952, when Marilyn Monroe became the fastest rising star that year. She was the sixth greatest female stars of all time and the greatest blonde bombshell of all time. She had roles in 29 movies throughout her short career between 1946-1962 when she passed. She was a talented, funny, glamorous, and unforgettable individual. Monroe had many affairs, some known, and many unknown while she was a single woman. The most famous were with co-star, Yves Montand and President John F. Kennedy. From these incidents, many people made harsh judgements about her and thought she was only a sex symbol. Many people overlooked her and did not like her for what had happened with all these men. Monroe had been married and divorced three times throughout her short 36 years. Many people also judged her on her unsteady love life. That was something Monroe struggled with greatly. Having sung as many as 50 songs, she became a beloved artist. She was a well rounded individual in Hollywood. She was an extremely successful model, singer, and actress. She was very dependent on prescription drugs and alcohol to control her emotional instability. She was worried that she had inherited her mother's paranoid schizophrenia and often heard "voices" and claimed that she was being followed. Monroe died at the age of 36 from a drug overdose. It was thought to be a "probable suicide."
